GEORGE HEYL DEAD

Was Well Known Resident of Westfield Township For Many Years

Akron Register Tribune: George H. Heyl, a well known farmer of this vicinity, died at his home southeast of town last Thursday evening, November 17, 1927, at about 9 o'clock.

He had suffered from heart trouble fro some time, but his final illness was a short one. On Wednesday, November 16, he suffered a hemorrhage of the brain and did not regain consciousness, passing away the following evening.

George Henry Heyl was born in Sac County, Iowa, April 6, 1876, and was 51 years, 7 months, and 11 days of age. In 1892 he moved to Osmond, Neb., and from this place he came to Akron, Iowa, in 1898, and has resided in this vicinity since. On December 4, 1901, he was married to Sophia Christensen, and six children were born to them, of whom five survive. A daughter died in infancy.

Those who survive, besides the widow, are his children, Lester, Ralph, Clark, Iona and Alma. He is also survived by two grandchildren, five brothers and one sister. The brothers were present at the funeral and are: Henry, of Alcester, S. D., Ed, of Laurel, Neb., Louis, of Lake Benton, Minn., Frederick, of Truro, Iowa, and Wyatt, of Akron. The sister, Mrs. G. A. Bliesner, of Regina, Sask., Canada, was unable to come.

Mr. Heyl was a member of the english Lutheran church of this city. He was an industrios and progressive farmer, a kind husband and father and highly esteemed amoung his neighbors and many friends. The community extends its sincere sympathy to this family in their bereavement.

The funeral was held at the English Lutheran church Sunday afternoon and was very largely attended. The services were conducted by the pastor, Rev. O. F. Bohman. Hymns were sung by the choir. Musical selections were rendered at the home and at the grave by Mrs. frank Jacobs and Miss Elsie Johnson. Interment was in Riverside Cemetery. Neighbors and friends who served as pallbearers were John Hendricks, Fred Smith, Claus Frerichs, albert Herzig, Geo. Hars and Lee Parker.

Other out of town relatives and friends who attended the funeral were: Mrs. Edgar Crain, of Creston, Iowa; Mr. and Mrs. Louis Christensen, of Sibley, Iowa; John Christensen, of Mitchell, S. D.; Mr. and Mrs. Leo Burke, of Sioux City, and Mr. and Mrs. Earl Bladen, of Sioux City.
