Iona Dolly Baldwin, 77, of Le Mars and formerly of Akron, died Wednesday, May 18, 1994, at Grand Junction, Col., after a long illness.
Services were held Wednesday, May 25, 1994, at Wesley United Methodist Church in Akron with the Rev. donald Greenough officiating. Burial was in Riverside Cemetery under the direction of schroeder Funeral Home in Akron.
Jon Harris sang "Precious Memories" and "Whispering Hope," accompanied by Carol Harris organist. Casketbearers were Milton Heyl, Barry Small, Darrell Berkenpas, Larry Farmer, Roger Farmer, and Gary Johnson.
Mrs. Baldwin was born Sept. 5, 1916, near Akron, the daughter of George and Sophia (Christensen) Heyl. She attended Joy Holow Country School and Akron High School. On Feb. 11, 1936, she married Marvin L. Baldwin in Sioux City. She worked at the akron Creamery and Otis Radio at Hawarden for many years. Mrs. Baldwin was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church.
Survivors include her husband; a daughter, Mrs. Marlyn "Matt" (Connie) Mattas of Grand Junction, Colo; a son, Iven "Butch" of Ellwood City, Pa.; four grandsons, Bradley Mattas and Gregory Mattas of Grand Junction, steven Baldwin of Washington, D. C., and David Baldwin of Ellwood City; on great-granddaughter, Morgan Mattas of Grand Junction; a sister, Mrs. Alma Berry of Palm Springs, Calif.; three sisters-in-law, Mrs. Margaret Heyl of Le Mars, and Mrs. Tillie Heyl and Evelyn Small, both of akron.
She was preceded in death by an infant daughter; her parents; and three brothers.
