Cordelia Mae Smith, 92, of Spink died Friday, Oct. 3, 1997, at the Dakota Care Center in Vermillion, S. D.
Services were held Tuesday, Oct. 7 at Brule Creek Lutheran Church in rural Elk Point, S. D., with the Rev. Richard Weikert officiating. Burial was in Riverside Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Bob Vreugdenhil, Ron Dreeszen, Dallas Wilken, Earl Schulz, Lloyd Helseth, and Leverne Klemme.
Mrs. Smith was born April 11, 1905, near Elk Point, the daughter of Bert and Nettie (Langdon) McGuire. She attended and gradusted from the Elk Point school system. She taught rural school in the Elk Point area.
She married Ralph Clifford Smith in July 1927. The couple made their home on a farm near Spink. He died in July 1983.
She was a member of Brule Creek Lutheran Church, the Ladies Aid and the Union County Extension Club. She served as a 4-H leader.
Survivors included a daughter and her husband, Joann and Ray Schulz of VErmillion; two grandchildren, Paul Schulz and Sally Schmitz; three great-grandsons; a sister, Zelma Connally of California; and a brother and his wife, Blythe and Marjorie McGuire of Paradise, Calif.
