Mrs. Jacob Ahrendson Died Tuesday After Injuring Hip in Fall

Funeral services were held Thursday afternoon for Mrs. Christina M. Ahrendsen, 80, of Merrill, who died Tuesday (December 20, 1949) at the Sacred Heart hospital. She had been admitted to the hospital five days earlier following a fall in which she injured her hip.

Mrs. Ahrendsen was born in Schlesweg-Holstein, Germany, on April 24, 1869, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Carl Clausen, and married Jacob Ahrendsen in that country on May 2, 1893.

She came to this country with her husband when she was 56. They settled near Merrill in 1923 and farmed there and near Le Mars.

She is survived by her husband, a daughter, Mrs. William Horeis of Cedar Bluffs, Neb., and four sons, Nis of Merrill, and Carl, John and Pete Ahrendsen of Le Mars. Also surviving are 10 grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.

The body was taken to Wiltgen's Funeral home until the time of the services which were held at the funeral home at 1:30 followed by a service at St. John's Lutheran church in Merrill at 2 p. m. The Rev. E. Jacobs officiated and burial was in the city cemetery at Merrill.
