Car accident claims the life of Akron man

Charles Torres Caskey, 23, Akron was killed Saturday afternoon in a one-car accident about three miles south of Alcester on South Dakota 11, the South Dakota Highway Patrol said.

Mr. Caskey was alone and was traveling south when he apparently lost control of the auto. Trooper Dean Gerrt reported. The car rolled over three times and Caskey was dead at the scene, according to the trooper.

Mr. Caskey was born December 22, 1949, at Taunton, Mass.

Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the First Church of Christ with Rev. Steve Steele officiating, and burial in the Riverside cemetery.

Pallbearers were Dave Rozell, Denny Rozell, Bob Bouwman, Gary Ericson, Roger Heyl and Matt Trotzig. Honorary pallbearers were Kent Kilstrom, Gary Buum, to Small, Gary Tucker, Ted Willer and Greg Heeren.

He was born Dec. 22, 1949, in Taunton, Mass., and was graduated from Akron high school in 1971 where he was a member of the Future FArmers of America.

He was employed on a road construction crew for Western Engineering of Harlan near Centrvile, S. D., at the time of his death.

Survivors are the parents, Mr. and MRs. Richard CAskey of Akron; three sisters, Mrs. Suzanne Clarey of Akron, Mrs. Debra Steckleberg of Sioux City and Rochelle at home; a brother Eddie, at home; grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Caskey of Akron, Mrs. Susan Rose of Norton, Mass., and Anthony Gorreia of Adams, Mass., and great-grandmother, Mrs. Anna Trudeau of Vermillion.
