ILLNESS CAUSES LOCAL WOMAN TO TAKE OWN LIFE

Mrs. Henry Steinert Had Lived In Community During Entire Life

Coming as a grievous shock to relatives and friends was the news that Mrs. Henry Steinert had taken her own life by jumping into the cistern at her far home about four miles northwest of town, Wednesday afteroon, during a spell of despondency, as she had been in poor health for some time. Mr. Steinert had gone to the chicken house to do some work and when he went back to the house about twenty minutes later, he received no response when he spoke to her. Going outside, he saw his wife's glasses on a small table and her shoes near the cistern, the cover of which was removed. Then he discovered his wife's body in the cistern. Summoning medical and other aid, everything possible was done to revive her, but to no avail.

Mrs. Steinert, who was about 50 years of age, had been ailing and nervous for some time, but her condition was not deemed as serious as the tragic event would indicate.

Besides her husband and one daughter, Mrs. Elmo Fletcher, Mrs. Steinert is survived by two sisters, Mrs. John Borchers, of this city, and Mrs. Ida Ross, of San Diego, Calif., and two brothers, Frank and Herman Reemts, of Akron. She had resided in this vicinity all her ife and was widely known and highly respected among a host of friends, who extend deep sympathy to the relatives in their sad and sudden bereavement. Funeral arrangemnts are imcomplete pending word from the sister in California.
