Ruby Greenwood

Ruby Greenwood, 86, of Akron, died Sunday (October 20, 1985) in the Akron city hospital after a brief illness.

Services were held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in Wesley United Methodist church in Akron, The Rev. Peter Peterson officiated. Burial was in the Riverside cemetery under the direction of the Schroeder Funeral Home in Akron. Visitiation was held from 2 to 8 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home.

Pallbearers were John Bouwman, Les Mitchell, Stanley Anderson, August Huebner, Robert Root, and Ronald Siemers.

Gary Tucker, vocalist, sang "Amaing Grace" and "The Old Rugged Cross", accompanied by Pam Stowe, organist.

Mrs. Greenwood was born March 10, 1899, in Greenville, Ky., to Atlas and Mattie Funley Wells. She married Connie Greenwood April 12, 1919, in Greenville. They moved to Union county, South Dakota in 1919 and farmed until 1975 when they retired and moved to Akron. Mr. Greenwood died in 1981. She was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church.

Survivors include three sons, Warren of Rockaway Beach, Ore.; Donald of Longmont, Colo.; and James of Titusville, Fla.; two daughters, Mattie Jean Dunn of Sioux City, Ia. and Betty Rager of Dallas, Texas; 17 grandchildrenl; 10 great-grandchildren; and 14 step-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Connie; two children, a son, Wayne and a daughter Dorothy; and her parents, Atlas and Mattie Finley Wells.
