Connie Greenwood

Connie Greenwood, 88, Akron, died Monday (Dec. 1, 1981) in the Akron hospital of a brief illness.

Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 4 at Wesley United Methodist church in Akron. Rev. Peter Peterson will officiate. Burial will be in Riverside cemetery under direction of the Schroeder funeral home in Akron. A prayer service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 3 is the funeral home.

Pallbearers are Jay Robertson, John Bouwman, Les Mitchell, Stanley Anderson, Ausust Huebner and Robert Root.

Mr. Greenwood was born April 5, 1893, in Greenville, Kentucky. He married Ruby Wells, April 12, 1919, at Greenville. They moved to Union county, South Dakota om 1919, and farmed there until his retirement in 1975.

He was a veteran of World War I and a member of Hoschler American Legion post 186. He was a member of Wesley United Methodist church in Akron.

Survivors include his wife, Ruby three sons, Warren of Topeka, Kansas; Donald of Logmont, Colorado; and James of Titusville, Florida; two daughters, Mattie Jean Dunn of Sioux City, Ia.; and Betty Rager of Dallas, Texas; 17 grandchildren, seven step-grandchildren and 10 step-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Dorothy and a son Wayne.
