Mae Loves Aalfs

Mae Loves Aalfs, 91, Garretson, S. D. a native of Union county, died Thursday, Oct. 27 at Pallisade manor in Garretson.

Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 1 at the George Boom funeral home in Sioux Falls, Rev. Roger Johnson, pastor of Zion Lutheran church in Garretson. Burial was in Riverside cemetery in Akron, Iowa.

A memorial service was held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Palisade Manor in Garretson.

Mrs. Aalfs,the former Mae Halvorson, was born June 6, 1897, on a farm in Union county, S.D. near Alcester. She grew up and received her education there. She married John W. Aalfs Oct. 22, 1914, in Union county. After their marriage they farmed near Akron until moving to q farm near Humboldt, S.D., in 1941. They moved into Humboldt in 1970. Mr. Aalfs died June 21, 1971. Mrs. Aalfs moved to Sioux Falls in 1971 and in 1976 to Garretson.

Survivors inclde a son, Edsel of Jacksonville, Oregon; and a daughter, Dorothy Gardinier of Sioux Falls; four grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Myrtle Jacobs of Akron.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a son, Vincent; two brothers, Fred and Bill; and a sister, Mabel Lewison.
