Hayes H. Barr

Hayes H. Barr, 83, of Akron, died Saturday (March 13, 1982) in a hospital at Hawarden after a long illness.

Services were held at 1:31 p.m. Tuesday in the Schroeder Funeral Home. The Rev. Ken Lewis, of Big Springs Baptist Church, rural Alcester, S.D., officiated. Burial was in the Riverside Cemetery.

Pallbearers: Harold Scott, Eldon Huff, Dennis Port, Daryl Port and Roy Carlson.

Mr. Barr was born Nov. 13, 1898, at Akron and was a lifelong area resident. He married Goldie Goodrich Jan. 27, 1924, at Elk Point, S.D. He worked as an interior and exterior decorator, retiring in 1965. He married Josie Doane March 6, 1964, at Elk Point. He was a member of the Senior Citizens Club.

Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Mrs. Elmer De Jager of Akron, Mrs. Betty Jean Parks of Hawarden and Mrs. Frances Newman of Mountain Home, Ark.; one son, Robert E. of Knoxville; nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

RESEARCH NOTE/CORRECTION: The LeMars Daily Sentinel, dated March 27, 1962, RINGS & VOWS column reported the marriage of Mrs. Josephine Doane to Hayes Barr, both from Akron, were married March 6, 1962 at Dakota City, Nebraska.
