Henrietta Margaret Sparks
Henrietta Margaret Sparks, 90, of Akron, died unexpectedly Friday, Aug. 2, 1991 at the Akron Care Center.
Services were held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Aug. 5, at Immanuel Lutheran church in Akron. Rev. William Flemr officiated. Soloist Bob Brown sang "Going Home" and "Beyond The Sunset", accompanied by Carol Harris, organist. Burial was in Riverside cemetery under direction of Schroeder funeral home in Akron.
Pallbearers were Rick Lorensen, Gary Lorensen, Jeff Lorensen, Dennis Lorensen, Arvin Finzen, Darrell Peters, and Harvey Peters.
Mrs. Sparks, the former Henrietta Margaret Peters was born May 2, 1901 in Springfield, Ill., the daughter of Henry and Margaret (Stadtlander) Peters. She married Theodore Lorensen Dec. 31, 1918. She married Orria Sparks June 21, 1946 at Akron. Mr. Sparks died November 13, 1986. She worked for many years at Claeys Produce in Akron retiring in 1963. She also worked at several restaurants in Akron.
She enjoyed gardening and raised many beautiful flowers and won many competitions with her flowers. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran church in Akron, Hoschler American Legion Post 186 Auxiliary, and the Akron hospital auxiliary.
Survivors include two sons, Leslie Lorensen and Orville Lorensen, both of Akron; a daughter, Lucille Young of Washington, Ill.; one sister, Matilda Fulton of Peoria, Ill.; a brother, Herman Peters of Creve Coeur, Ill.; five grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by her parents, a grandchild, Charles Allen Lorensen, three brothers, Fred, John and Dan, and two sisters, Bertha Giffrow and Mamie Lorensen.
