LAST RITES ARE HELD MONDAY FOR MRS. B. KLEIHAUER

Longtime Resident Of This Vicinity Dies After Brief Illness

Mrs. Bertha M. Kleihauer, a longtime resident of Akron vicinity, passed away Friday, March 20, 1959, at her home northwest of town, after a brief illness aged nearly 88 years.

Bertha Margaretha Eden, daughter of Garmer and Adelheide (nee Jacobs) Eden, was born April 4, 1870, on board the shop Columbus on the Atlantic ocean, while her parents were coming from Germany to the United States. She was baptized on board ship. Her parents located in Whiteside county, Illinois and she was confirmed in the Lutheran faith. She lived with them there until her marriage to Henry Kleihauer on March 7, 1889, at Morrison, Ill. They came to Plymouth county, Iowa, in 1897, and they farmed in. this vicinity for many years. Mrs. Kleihauer was a faithful member of Trinity Lutheran church and Trinity Ladies Aid over a long period of years. She was preceded in death by her husband and a son, Martin.

Left to mourn her passing are two sons, George and Henry; two daughters, Mrs. Alfred (Anna) Meske and Mrs. Paul (Grace) Meske, all of Akron-; eight grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Johanna Johnson, of Manlius, New York, and two brothers, Frank Eden, of Akron, and Fred Eden, of Alpena. S. D.

Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at Trinity Lutheran church, Pastor Luther A. Meyer officiating. Richard Hillrichs was soloist and Mrs. Luther A. Meyer was organist. Interment was in Riverside cemetery Relatives from a distance in attendance were: Marvin Meske, Sioux Falls, S. D.; Mr. and Mrs. Fred Eden. and Mr. and Mrs. Richard Eden, of Alpena S, D;; Mrs. Curl Stielon and and Mrs. Henry Klicker, of Wolsey, S. D.; Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Eden and Mrs. Leo Johnson, of Huron, S. D.; Mrs. Anna Eden, Gertrude Eden, Mrs. Adele Willms, Mrs. Velma Fickbohm, Mr. and Mrs. George DeWall, of Alcester, S. D.
