August Ohlendorf Passes Away Friday.
August Ohlendorf, 66, passes away at his home in Remsen Friday Feb. 18 and was laid to rest in the Remsen Cemetery, Monday February 21st. His death was the first of the Fred Ohlendorf children.
The funeral services were conducted by Rev. A. Noack. Pallbearers were the five brothers: Henry, John, Albert, Ben, Elmer and a brother-in-law A. A. Harnack.
The surviving brothers and sisters are Henry Will, Ben and Mrs. J. Stowater of Marcus; John, Albert, Elmer, Anna Lindekuyel and Mrs. A. A. Harnack, all of Remsen; Mrs. John Holck of Bryon, California; Mrs. Gus and Mrs. Henry Lindeman of Tracey, Cal. His father preceded him in death 12 years ago and his mother a year ago this month.
Among those from here who attended the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Henry Ohlendorf, Mr. and Mrs. Elon Kirchoff, Mr. and Mrs. Lin Stowater; Ben Blietz, Mrs. Joe Broblek, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Schmillen, Mr. and Mrs. Ben Ohlendorf, Mr. and Mrs. Edward Ohlendorf, Lyle, Ruth Ann and Millie Wagner; Mr. and Mrs. J. August Ohlendorf, old resident of Remsen, died Friday at the age of 66 years. He suffered a slight stroke several months ago and a second stroke last Thursday caused his death the following day. Mr. Ohlendorf never married. The funeral was held at Christ Lutheran church Monday afternoon, Rev. Noack officiating. – Le Mars Semi-Weekly Sentinel, Tuesday, Feb 22, 1944, page 3.
