Mrs. John Knecht, 84, of Akron, died Tuesday in nursing home at Alcester. S.D. after a brief illness.

Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday in the First Church of Christ in Akron. David Callaway will officiate. Burial will lie in the Riverside cemetery. There will be a prayer service at 7:30 p.m Thursday in the Schroeder Funeral home at Akron.

Mrs Knecht the former Katie Edith Petersen. was born Sept. 2, 1897, at Harlam. She married John L. Knecht Dec. 28, 1915, at Le Mars. They farmed in the Akron area their entire married life.

Survivors are her husband; four sons. Alfred of Sioux City. Jim William and Larry, all of Akron: two daughters, Mrs. Ervin (Bertha) Smid and Mrs. Alva (Velma) Port, both of Akron; 10 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; six sisters. Mrs. LuVern (Pearl) Schulz of Merrill. Mrs. George (Myrtle) Schulz. Mrs. Mildred Schulz, and Mrs. George (Gladys) Krause. all of Le Mars. Mrs. Henry (Hazel) Huisman of Westbrook, Minn., and Mrs. Nick (Bernice) Loutsch of Sioux City: and one l brother, Lloyd of Le Mars.
