Early Plymouth County Settler Taken By Death. Mrs. Catherine Eichhorn Was Member Of Well Known Family in Remsen.
Mrs. Catherine Eichhorn, 76 years old, early Plymouth county settler, died in a Sioux City hospital early Wednesday.
Mrs. Eichhorn recently suffered hemorrhages. Her condition became critical January 19 and she was removed to a hospital from the home of her daughter, Mrs. Herman H. Koch, 2116 McDonald, Sioux City. Several blood transfusions from her sons, Fred. G. Eichhorn, of Remsen; A. J. Eichhorn, of Sioux Falls, S.D., and a grandson, Milton Eichhorn, of Remsen, failed to overcome her ailment.
Born at Wilkes-Barre, Pa., December 19, 1859, Mrs. Eichhorn came to Iowa while a girl and settled on a farm near Remsen in 1883. Her husband preceded her in death in 1903. For many years since she had made her home with her children. She was a member of St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran church at Remsen.
Mrs. Eichhorn is survived by three sons, Fred G. Eichorn, of Remsen; A. J. Eichhorn, of Sioux Falls, and J.C. Eichhorn, of Osakaloosa, and three daughters, Mrs. Gertrude Willenborg, of Chicago, and Mrs. Joseph Ahmann and Mrs. Koch, of Sioux City. – Le Mars Semi-Weekly Sentinel, Jan. 31, 1936, page 1.

Born at Wilkes-Barre, Pa., Dec. 19, 1859. Married John Eichhorn at West Branch, Ia., in 1879. Came to Plymouth county in the spring of 1883 and settled on a farm six miles southeast of Remsen. They farmed until Feb. 1896 when the family moved to Le Mars, where they stayed on year before moving to Remsen. Mr. Eichhorn was in the grain business in Remsen at the time of his death, April 6, 1903. Mrs. Eichhorn is survived by three sons and three daughters, Mrs. Gertrude Willenborg of Chicago, Mrs. Joseph Ahmann of Sioux City, Mrs. Herman H. Koch of Sioux City, Fred G. Eichhorn of Remsen, J. C. Eichhorn of Oskaloosa, Ia. and A. J. Eichhorn of Sioux Falls, S. Dak.
She is also survived by a brother Fred Raber of Sioux City and a sister, Mrs. August Earnest of Remsen.
She was 76 years old at the time of her death. In December, while at the home of her son, Fred G. in Remsen, Mrs. Eichhorn suffered a hemorrhage. She returned to Sioux City to be with her daughter, Mrs. Herman H. Koch. She suffered another on Jan. 18. She received blood transfusion from sons Fred and A. J. and a grandson , Milton, of Remsen.
