Everald Steffen, 85, of Remsen, Iowa died Saturday, September 26, 2009 at Floyd valley Hospital in Le Mars, Iowa.
Everal was born on Nov. 25, 1923 at rural Remsen, the son of Elmer and Bertha (Grage) Steffen. He was raised and educated in the Remsen area and graduated from Remsen Public School. After school Everald farmed with his father for many years. On July 27, 1963 he married Lois Kelsheimer at Christ Lutheran Church in Remsen. The couple farmed near Remsen until 1996 when they retired and moved into Remsen. Everald was a member of Christ Lutheran church LCMS of Remsen.
Survivors include: His wife, Lois of Remsen; one sister Ellen Pratt and her husband Orlin of Remsen; one sister-in-law, Rosemary Liesner of Remsen; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by: His parents; one brother, Vernon Steffen; and one nephew Russell Steffen.
A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wed., September 30, 2009, at Christ Lutheran Church LCMS in Remsen with Pastor Dennis Martens officiating. Burial was at the Remsen Community Cemetery. Visitation was from 8:30 a.m. until service time on Wednesday at Christ Lutheran Church LCMS in Remsen.
Fisch Funeral Home & Monument in Remsen was in charge of arrangements.
