Emma Tammen, 74, of Craig, died Monday (May 5, 1986) at Brentwood Care Center, LeMars, after an illness of 2 1/2 years. She had lived at the care center for a year. Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran church at Craig with Rev. Charles Wolff officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery, under the direction of Mauer-Johnson funeral home.
Mrs. Tammen, the former Emma Wilhelmine Catharina Pageler, was born Dec. 13, 1911, in Johnson township, Plymouth county, to John and Johanna Johnson Pageler. She married Henry Tammen Oct. 19, 1932, in Craig. She and her husband farmed for many years until retiring into Craig 18 years
ago. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran church.Survivors are her husband; one daughter, Mrs. Melvin (Joan) Plueger of LeMars; one sister, Mrs. George (Lily) Tammen of Merrill, and one granddaughter, Laurie Plueger. She was preceded in death by her parents, six brothers and two sisters.
