Dick Benjegerdes.
Dick Benjegerdes, 76, lifetime resident of the Remsen area, died Sunday at a Sioux City hospital after a five-month sickness.
Funeral services at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at St. Paul’s Lutheran church at Remsen, Rev. Paul Wuebben, pastor, officiated. Burial was in the Remsen City cemetery under direction of the Moeller funeral home.
Mr. Benjegerdes was born January 7, 1887, in Marion township near Remsen, and lived his entire life near Remsen, retiring to town 19 years ago. He was blind since birth and was a retired piano tuner.
For many years he was organist for St. Paul’s Lutheran church here.
Survivors include two cousins, William Benjegerdes of Remsen and Ernest Benjegerdes of Le Mars, Ia., and several nieces and nephews. – Le Mars Globe Post, Oct 17, 1963, page 14.
