The funeral of Chris Thompson, a former resident of Fredonia township, was held at Christ church in Remsen, on Saturday. Mr. Thompson was born in Denmark, January 9, 1868, and came to this country in 1882. He lived in Pennsylvania for a short time and with other members of the family came to Iowa, settling in Fredonia township. Fifteen years ago Mr. Thompson moved to South Dakota. He died at the home of his brother, Jim Thompson, Irene, S. D., on March 14 following a brief illness of pneumonia.
The remains were brought to Remsen for interment, being accompanied by his brother, J. H. Thompson, of Gayville, S.D. The funeral services were conducted by Rev. A. Noack, of Remsen. He leaves to mourn his death two brothers, James Thompson, of Irene, S.D., and J.H. Thompson, of Gayville, S. D. – Le Mars Semi-Weekly Sentinel, March 23, 1923, page 1.
Note: Other family members in the Remsen Cemetery are spelled “Thomsen”.
