ARTHUR JACOB HENRY ZIMMERMAN 1889-1964

Arthur Jacob Henry (Art) Zimmerman was born in LeMars, Iowa, on June 29, 1889, the son of George Washington and Louise Berner Zimmerman. At age one he with his parents and brothers moved to a farm south east of Merrill, Iowa, Plymouth Township. Farming was his occupation for many years. On August 20, 1913, Art was united in marriage to Eugene E. Cobb at Merrill. To this union four children were born: Robert Zimmerman, Bill Donald Zimmerman, Mary Jane (Mrs. Allen) Weidauer and Gerald Allen Zimmerman.

Mr. and Mrs. Zimmerman moved to LeMars, Iowa, were Art was employed by many business places, some being Heller’s Produce House, Long’s Grocery Store and a dishwasher at the Pantry Café and Jim Hoeck Restaurant. Art suffered much from arthritis in his later years.

Mr. Zimmerman passed away December 2, 1964, reaching the age of 75 years. Funeral services were held December 5, 1964, from the Merrill-Stanton Evangelical United Brethren Church. Officiating clergyman was Rev. Milford Vance. Interment was at the Stanton Township Cemetery.
