ROY W. ZIMMERMAN 1893-1908

Roy W. Zimmerman was born in 1893, near Merrill, Iowa, where he resided with his parents. He was the son of George Washington and Louise Berner Zimmerman. Roy’s life was a sad lot. From early infancy he had been an invalid and was never able to run and play like other children. He was patient and gentle and bore his misfortune with uncomplaining fortitude and when the little fellow would laugh and glean zest in meeting people and took interest in the things of life although compelled to pass his days in an invalid’s chair.

Roy passed away in May, 1908, at the age of 15 years. The grief of his passing is assuaged by the solace of the thought that a martyr’s suffering on earth will surely be rewarded with a crown of salvation in a higher and wider sphere.

The funeral was held on Saturday at the home of his parents. Rev. J. Klooz of the Melbourne Church officiated and the interment was made in the Stanton Evangelical Church Cemetery.
