TILDA ZIMMERMAN LIPPKE 1899-1989

Tilda Zimmerman was born March 26, 1899, near Merrill, Iowa, in Plymouth Township. She was the daughter of George Washington and Louise Berner Zimmerman. Tilda grew up on the farm, residing with her parents. Her education was through the eighth grade at the country, township school. Tilda was faithful in helping to care for her invalid brother and to perform the household duties for the family.

On August 22, 1923, Tilda was united in marriage to Paul Erick Lippke. To this union four sons were born: James Alan Lippke, Donald Eugene Lippke, Richard Lee Lippke and Bruce Robert Lippke. Most of Tilda and Erick’s livelihood was maintained through farming, first in Stanton Township.

In March 1927 they moved to Pipestone, Minn. Later, possibly in the depression years of the 1930’s, they moved to Aberdeen, S.D., doing farming and where Erick operated an implement business. When worst came to worst, they moved to Pewaukee, Wisconsin, to be near son, Donald. Donald and Erick sold Real Estate. After Erick’s death, Tilda lived in a convalescent home until her death, November 10, 1989. Burial was at the Wisconsin Memorial Garden at Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
