BENJAMIN FRANKLIN ZIMMERMAN 1885-1946
Benjamin Franklin Zimmerman, better known as Frank, was born in LeMars, Iowa, October 27, 1885. He was the son of George Washington and Louise Berner Zimmerman. When he was four years of age, he moved with his parents to a farm south and east of Merrill, Iowa, where he lived for the remaining years of his life except for two years which were lived in LeMars. On February 14, 1914, Frank was united in marriage with Ina Donlin. To this union one daughter was born, Doris Ina (Mrs. John H.) Johnson.
Frank had a quiet disposition. He was loved and respected by all who knew him. Although his health had not been good for several years, his last illness was of only three days duration. He passed away as he had lived, quietly and peacefully. He passed away at the home of his daughter near Merrill, Iowa, October 17, 1946, at the age of 60 years, 11 months, and 20 days. His wife, Ina preceded him in death, having passed away August 29, 1914. [Note: Ina passed away the same day she gave birth to their daughter, Doris Ina.]
Funeral services were held on Saturday afternoon at the Mauer Funeral Chapel at 1:30 and at the Stanton Evangelical Church at 2:00 o’clock.
Officiating clergyman was Rev. E. C. Boom. Burial was made in the Stanton Township Cemetery.
