Funeral services for Carl Christian Marquard, 77, will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, August 31 in St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church here. Rev. Paul Wuebben will officiate and burial will be in the Remsen City Cemetery.
Mr. Marquard died Monday, August 28, at Floyd Valley Hospital, Le Mars. He had been ill the pat two months and had been a hospital patient five weeks.
Carl was born November 19, 1889, in Denmark and came to this country as a young man. He was a retired farmer and after moving to town worked at the masonry trade for several years. During World War II he spent five years working in the shipyards in Oregon.
He married Boline Mortensen on November 21, 1950, at Remsen.
Surviving are the widow and a number of distant relatives in Denmark.
Pallbearers will be Gordon Skordahl, Ray Juhl, William Ahlers, Melvin Bouma, Lawrence Leafsteadt and Bob Garvin.
