REMSEN. Remsen Bell-Enterprise. One of Remsen’s aged citizens Mr. Andreas Lotz, passed away under the load of infirmities coming with the years, at his home on the west end of Second street, at 2:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 6, aged 77 years. Andreas Lotz was born in Wallroth, Kurbessee, Germany, where in 1849 he married Elizabeth Berthold who survives him. Mr. and Mrs. Lotz came to America in 1850 and located first in Pittsburg, later they moved to Illinois and then to Benton county, Iowa. Twenty-three years ago they came to Plymouth county and farmed successfully, until five years ago, when they retired and came to live in Remsen. Their union was blessed with five children, of whom four have died, John Lotz being the only one to mourn with the mother, the loss of husband and father. - Le Mars Semi-Weekly Sentinel, March 12, 1907, page 2.
