Bessie Juhl Johnson, 83, or rural Dakota City died Monday (Jan. 30, 1984) in a Sioux City hospital after a brief illness.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday in Salem Lutheran Church, rural Dakota City. Rev. Nile Buch will officiate. Graveside services will be at 2 pm. Thursday in the City Cemetery at Remsen. Rev. Curtis Miller, a grand-nephew will officiate.
Mrs. Johnson, the former Bessie Juhl, was born Jan. 24, 1901, in Plymouth County. She graduated from St. Joseph School of Nursing in 1929 and practiced nursing for more than 50 years.
She married Martin Johnson Sept. 10, 1960, in Sioux City. He died Aug. 18, 1967, at West Point, Neb. She lived at West Point until 1969 when she moved to Dakota City.
Mrs. Johnson was a member of Salem Lutheran Church and various community organizations.
A memorial has been established in her name with Salem Lutheran Church.
Survivors are one stepson, Marvin Johnson of Blair, Neb.; three step-daughters, Mrs. Jim Moody of Pender, Neb., Mrs. Paul Radtke of Fremont, Neb., and Mrs. Leon Weddingfeld of Wayne, Neb.; 10 step grandchildren and 30 step great-grandchildren.
