Le Mars woman dies of 103

Margaretha Husmann, 103, of Le Mars died Monday (April 2, 1984) in Countryside Estates in Cherokee.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday in St. John's American Lutheran church in Le Mars. The Rev. David Kramer will officiate. Burial will be in Hillside cemetery, Merrill, under direction of the Mauer- Johnson funeral home in Le Mars.

Mrs. Husmann, the former Margaretha Ressen, was born Nov. 25, 1880, in Mahne, Germany. She came to the United States and the Remsen area in 1885. She attended school in Remsen. She married Fred Husmann June 14, 1901, in Le Mars. They farmed in the Le Mars vicinity until 1945 when they moved into town. He died in 1961. Mrs. Husmann was a member of St. John's American Lutheran church.

Survivors include three sons, Henry of Westbrook, Minn., Albert of Merrill and Alfred of Westfield; four daughters. Miss Catherine of Cherokee, Mrs. Louis (Julia) Baack of Hinton and Mrs. Clarence (Christine) Carstensen and Mrs. Dorothy Madden, both of Le Mars; a sister, Mrs. Agnes Marlowe of Le Mars; 26 grandchildren; 69 great-grandchildren and 58 great-great-grandchildren. She was the mother of the late Fred Husmann of Akron.
