Obituary of Stanley Lilly
The residents of Westfield and vicinity were again called upon to part with one of their most-highly respected citizens, Stanley P. Lilly, who passed away in his home Wednesday, March 6, 1940. A few months ago Mr. Lilly submitted to an operation from which he never fully recovered, although hopes were entertained that he might regain his health; but in spite of all that medical skill and loving care could offer, he was called to his eternal reward.
Stanley P. Lilly was born May 11, 1872, at Le Mars, Iowa, and attained the age of 67 years, 9 months and 24 days. With his parents, he moved from Le Mars to the Broken Kettle vicinity in this county in 1878, and in 1884 moved to the old home place, south of Westfield. On January 26, 1901, he was United in marriage with Mabel A. Harrington. To this union four children were born: Evelyn Banks, Wallace Lilly, Audrey Crouch and Shirley Mansfield.
Mr. Lilly had always taken an active part in the civic, church and social affairs of the community and was a most kind friend and neighbor. He was most devoted to his family and his greatest pleasure was to be found in, the family circle.
He leaves to mourn his loss, his wife, four children, six grandchildren, two brothers, H. B. and 0. B. of this community, besides a host of sorrowing friends.
Brief funeral services were conducted Saturday afternoon in the home, Rev. Charles Seward, of Sioux City, officiating, The remains were laid to rest in Riverside cemetery at Akron. The pallbearers were six
nephews: Vernon, Clark, Clair, David, Wayne and Bardwell Lilly.Akron Register Tribune
