Funeral services for Mrs Helena Lilly, 77 of Westfield, who dice Saturday at an Akron hospital after a week's illness, were at 1:30 p.m., Monday at the Congregational church at Westfield. Rev Donald Roberts officiated. Burial was in Riverside cemetery at Akron, under direction of the Rossow funeral home of Akron.

Mrs Lilly was born February 22 1885, at Le Mars, Iowa. She was married to Acher A. Lilly on January 10, 1909. He died January 21 of this year. She was a member of the Congregational church and the Ladies Aid here, and of Vester chapter, Order of Eastern Star at Akron.

Survivors include a son, Paul of Boone, Iowa and two grandchildren.

MRS. HELENA LILLY CALLED BY DEATH LAST SATURDAY

Rites Held Monday For An Esteemed Westfield Resident

Mrs. Helena (Arch) Lilly, a well known and revered resident of Westfield, Iowa, passed away Saturday, September 16, 1962, at the Akron Hospital, after a week's illness, aged 77 years and 6 months.

Helena Susanelda Marks was born February 22, 1885, on a farm south of Le Mars, Iowa. In girlhood she moved with her family to a homestead near Gordon, Nebr. A few years Inter they returned to Plymouth county and farmed east of Westfield, later locating at Gayville, S. D. After learning the millinery trade in Chicago and Omaha, Lena, as she was popularly known, and elder sister, Annie Marks, opened a millinery and dressmaking shop in Westfield.

It was here she met and married Archer A. Lilly on January 10, 1909, and there they continued to make their home the remainder of their lives. In 1950 Mr. Lilly retired as a rural mail carrier and they spent the following winters in Arizona, Texas and Florida. A high-light of their later years was the observance of their 50th wedding anniversary in January, 1959. Mrs. Lilly was a member of the Westfield Congregational church, the Ladies Aid and of Vesper Chapter, Order of Eastern Star of Akron. Simple Christian devotion is the most accurate way to describe her actions and accomplishments.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Archer, January 21, 1962.

Surviving are a son, Paul, his wife, and their three children, of Boone, Iowa, and a brother, Frank Marks, of Lesterville, S. D.

Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at Westfield Congregational church, Rev. Donald Roberts officiating. Music by the church choir. Mrs. Keith Knapp was accompanist. Pallbearers were David, Bard, Glair, Wallace and Clark Lilly and Alvord Banks. Interment was in Akron Riverside cemetery.

Among- relatives attending the funeral from out of town were: Frank Marks, Sharon and Myron Marks, of Lesterville, S. D.; Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Honess and family, of Sioux Falls; Mrs. Herman Marks, of Yankton; Mr. and Mrs. Manford Rye, of Gayville, S. D., and friends, Mr. and Mrs. Donald Byers, of Boone, la.; Mr. and Mrs. Harley Small and Grover Rollins, of Sioux City, also a number from Akron.
