Tena M. Popken

Tena Margaretha Popken, 93, 115 Second Ave. NW, died Friday, April 24 at Floyd Valley hospital after a 6 day illness.

Funeral services were Monday at 2 p.m. at St. John American Lutheran church with Rev. Arnold Imbrock and Rev. Paul Tobiason officiating. Burial was in LeMars Memorial cemetery under direction of Mauer funeral home.

The former Tena Margaretha Eden, she was born Aug. 7, 1876, in Grant township, Plymouth county, a daughter of the late Melchert J. and Sophia (Helling) Eden. She was married to Herman C. Popken, March 2, 1898, in Grant township near LeMars. She was a homemaker and farmer with her husband in Grant township near Struble and Craig. They moved to LeMars in 1943.

She was a member of St. John American Lutheran church.

The survivors are three daughters, Sophia Delperdang of Sioux City, Rose Oltmanns of LeMars and Grady Mueller of San Bernardino, Calif.; five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
