Gust Chris Beeck, 78, Alcester, S.D., died Tuesday, Oct. 25, 1988, at the Hawarden Community hospital of a brief illness.

Funeral services were held Friday at Schroeder funeral home in Akron. Rev. Charles Peterson of Alcester officiated. Pallbearers were Darrell Johnson, Jim Richters, Alan Beeck, Mert Beeck, Arlin Beeck and Dennis Wilken. Mr. Beeck was born Oct. 11, 1910, in Fehmarn, Germany to Fred and Wilhelmina (Jahn) Beeck. When he was two years old he came to the United States with his parents, and settled on a farm near Akron. He married Edith Albright Nov. 27, 1937 in Le Mars. She died in 1965. He married Mary Jane Blomberg at Chatsworth, July 30, 1970. He farmed near Akron for 60 years and lived in Chatsworth for seven years. The past 10 years he had lived in Alcester. He retired in 1982. He was a former member of St. Matthew's Lutheran church at Chatsworth, and a member of Nathanael Lutheran church and the Senior Citizens group of Alcester.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Jane of Alcester; a daughter, Mrs. Ronald (Dora) Kjose of Spink, S.D.; a son, Terry Lee Beeck of Redfield, S.D.; three step-daughters, Mrs. Donald (Corrine) Maske of Hartford, S.D., Mrs. Dan (Wanda) Vanderham of Geddes, S.D., and Mrs. Howard (Connie) Hieb of
Valley Springs, S.D.; a sister, Sophia Johnson of Craig; five brothers, Chris, Henry, Albert, Emil and Alvin, all of Akron; two grandchildren; 12 stepgrandchildren; and one step-greatgrandchild.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Edith; a son, Richard; and three brothers, Bill, John and Carl Beeck.
