After several years illness with stomach trouble, death came last Friday morning, May 20, 1910, to relieve the sufferings of Marion Barr, at his home in this city. While living at Shindlar, S. D., about a year and a half ago, he submitted to a severe operation at Rochester, Minn., and for a time thereafter felt much improved and was enabled to resume his blacksmith work. The trouble returned, however, and thereafter.; he gradually declined. He made a brave struggle against the physical foe but the odds were all against him

Marion Barr was born at Rock Falls, Cerro Gordo county, Iowa, October 27, 1866, and therefore was aged 43 years, 6 months and 23 days. When a boy of about two-and a half years of age, he came with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. H. D. Barr to what was known as the Big Sioux Mill, located a few miles below what is now the town of Westfield, Iowa. A short time afterward the family came to what was then known as Portlandville, now Akron, and this has remained his home most of the time since. He followed the trade of a blacksmith and was a good workman when his health permitted.

On January 14, 1894, he married Miss Clara Reuter, of this city. Besides the bereaved wife, there survive five children, his mother, two sisters and, four brothers, all' of whom have the; sympathy oft this community.

Funeral services, conducted by Rev. J. S. Bain, were held Sunday in the M. E. church. Interment in Riverside cemetery.
