Mrs. Bert A. Port, formerly of Akron, died at a Sioux City hospital on Wednesday from cancer.

Zelma Barr was born December 16, 1879, on a farm in Dakota, near Akron, Iowa. She moved to Akron with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Harvey D. Barr, when she was ten years old and resided here until four years ago when she and her family moved to Sioux City. She was married to Bert Port on January 19, 1898, and to this union ten children were born, six of whom are living.

She is survived by her husband, Bert Port, and her children, Mrs. Louis Byers, of Sioux City; Vernon C, Orval J., Evelyn June. Zelma Mae and Arlow Alex., near Moville, Iowa, where the family now resides; one sister, Mrs. C. H. Maxson, of Long Beach, Cal.; three brothers, Major Barr, of Sioux Falls, S. D.; Grant Barr, of Akron, and Ora Barr, of Sioux City; three grandchildren, William A., Juanita J. and Arnold Rodgers Byars, of Sioux City.

They have the sympathy of many friends in the loss of a kind and devoted wife, mother and sister. The remains, were brought from Sioux City to Akron last Friday evening and funeral services were held in the Methodist Episcopal Church here Saturday afternoon, conducted by Rev. G. J. Poppenheimer. Interment was in Riverside Cemetery.

Besides the husband and children, relatives from a distance who were here to attend the funeral of Mrs. Bert A. Port on Saturday afternoon were: Mrs. Henry Wintersteen, of Hartford, S. D.; Mrs. John Tucker and Mrs. Leona Chase, of Sioux City.
