WAS RESIDENT OF IOWA ALL HIS LIFE

S. S. Port Summoned After Brief Illness — Resided Here 43 Years

Mention was made In these columns last week of the death of Ves. Port at his home in this city on Wednesday evening, December 24, 1930, after a very brief Illness, of heart trouble, aged 66 years, 8 months and 18 days.

Sylvester S. Port was born in Scott county, Iowa, near Davenport, April 6, 1884, a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. H. H. Port, of this city. He moved from eastern Iowa to Plymouth county. In 1887 and had made his home In this county up to the time of his passing away. He was united In marriage with Mrs. Clara Barr, August 8, 1911, and to this union three sons were born.

He leaves to mourn his loss, his loving companion, his three sons Raymond, Richard and Harold, all of Akron, la.; three sisters, Mrs. Ida Wintersteen of Hartford. S. D., Mrs. Flo Folan of Plankinton, S. D., Mrs. John Tucker of Sioux City, la.; four brothers, Frank Port of Brunsville, la., Charles Port' of Hartford, S. D., Harry Port of Akron, la., Bert Port of Sioux City, la., and many other relatives, and a host of friends who will miss this friendly, genial man, who was so long a citizen of this community.

Funeral services were held last Friday at 2 p. m. In the Christian church. Minister O. M. Keyes officiating, interment was In Riverside cemetery.

Relatives from out of town, attending the funeral were; Mr. and Mrs. H. J. Wintersteen and son of Hartford, S. D.; Mrs. Will Folan and son and daughter, Mrs. John Vanwarmer of Plankinton, S. D. Chas. Port, of Hartford S. D.; Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Port of Howard, S.D.; Frank Port and children of Brunsville, Ia.; Mr. and Mrs. Orval Port; Mr. and Mrs. L. M. Reyers, Mrs. Rohland McPherson, Theodore Farrin of Sioux City, Ia.; Alva and Fay Port, of Westfield, Ia.; Mrs. Lester Johnson, of Lenwood, Ia.; Mrs. Augustus Sallborn and Julius Krumrel, of Harrisburg, S. D.
