Lucken, Fred E. 1905 - 1988

LUCKEN, BIERMANN, MOREHEAD

Fred E. Lucken, 82, Akron, died Tuesday, Oct. 18, 1988 in the Akron City Convalescent Care Center.

Services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday in the Plymouth Presbyterian church, rural Akron. The Rev. Hatty G. Duncan officiated. “Amazing Grace,” “In the Garden”, and “Abide With Me”, were sung by the duet, Marilyn Taylor and Dean Rowe. Burial was in the church cemetery under direction of Schroeder funeral Home of Akron. Pallbearers were Harold Harms, Gregg Lucken, Scott Lucken, Don Lucken, Kent Lucken and Herman Wilken.

Mr. Lucken was born Dec. 21, 1905, to Gerhard and Caroline (Biermann) Lucken. He lived in the Akron area his entire life. He married Hope Morehead, Jan. 12, 1933 at the Plymouth Presbyterian church. The couple farmed east of Akron until 1961 when they retired and moved into Akron. Mr. Lucken had served as a director for several area banks and the Farmers Co-op in Akron. He was an active member of Plymouth Presbyterian church, where he had held many offices.

Survivors include his wife, Hope; two sons, Arlen and Alan, both of Akron; four grandchildren; five sisters, Ann Curry of South Sioux City, Rose Swain and Henrietta Bue, both of Sioux City, Johanna Erickson of Spencer and Dorothy Murphy of Vermillion, S.D.; and a brother Ernest of Akron.

He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Henry, Cy, Jack, and Ben; a sister, Mary and a grandson, David Lucken.
