Oscar C. Johnson residing northwest of Akron, passed away Thursday, April 16, in a Sioux City hospital where he was taken the previous Monday for an operation for appendicitis. The operation was successfully performed but serious infection had resulted on account of a rupture of the appendix.

Deceased was born in Sioux Valley Township Union County, S. D., June 28, 1896, and was therefore nearly thirty years of age. His parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. T. A. Johnson, were among the early settlers of that locality, his mother having passed away a number of years ago and his father being now a resident of San Francisco. Oscar had resided in Union County all his life and besides being a young man of most exemplary character and industrious habits, was, highly esteemed and respected by all who knew him. The past few years he has worked his father’s farm.

On April 28, 1911, he was united in marriage with Mrs. Laura Nygard, who with other relatives left to mourn his untimely taking away are: His father J. T. A. Johnson of San Francisco; four brothers, Andrew and J.O., of Union county, and Arthur and Adolph of Cadillac, Sask., Canada; two sisters Mrs. Martin Thompson of Sioux City, and Mrs. Aug. Nilson of Union County; and a host of friends who join in sympathy with the bereaved family.

The remains were brought here Friday evening from Sioux City, accompanied by his wife. Funeral services were conducted In the Baptist Church Monday at 2 p.m., by Arthur Miller, pastor of the Christian church, which denomination deceased was a consistent member. A large congregation assembled to pay a last tribute
of respect. Interment was in Riverside Cemetery.

Relatives who came from a distance to attend the funeral Were his father, J. T. A. Johnson, of San Francisco, and Mr. and Mrs. Martin Thompson and family of Sioux, City.
