Mrs. Augusta Haack Remsen Pioneer Claimed By Death.
Mrs. Augusta Haack, 76, early settler, died at her home in Remsen Monday night.
Funeral services were held Thursday in St. Paul’s Lutheran church in Remsen.
Augusta Jorgensen was born in Mecklenburg, Germany, March 18, 1864, and when five years old came with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ewald Jorgensen, to America.
She was married in 1880 to John Haack at Keystone, Iowa. They came here in 1885. Mr. Haack died in 1939
She is survived by the following children: Amanda, Clara, Mrs. C.E. Schumacher, Harry, Alma and Mrs. Peter Treinen, all of Remsen; Mrs. Howard Smith of Ocheyedan, Iowa; Mrs. Ernest Schietzelt of Sioux City, and Mrs. Richard Janssen near Le Mars. There are 16 grandchildren and four great grandchildren. – Le Mars Semi-Weekly Sentinel, Feb. 7, 1941, page 1.
