Mrs. Hugh Watson, whose maiden name was Isabell McIntosh was born January 20, 1843, in Quebec, Lower Canada, and died November l5, 1904, at the age of 61 years, 10 months and 27 days. She was united in marriage to Hugh Watson in Fort Covington, New York, Franklin county, October 23, 1867. They lived in Canada until 1873 when they moved to Iowa and have since resided on the old homestead. There was born to them eleven children four boys and seven girls two of which died in infancy. The children are Mrs. Geo. B. Lewis and Mrs. Wm. Alexander of Plainview, Neb., Mrs. Hugh Maxwell, Mrs. Thos. Eyres, James, Archie, Allen, Lina and Beatrice of this place. She was a member of the First Presbyterian church of Union township and was a devoted wife and mother, was given to hospitality, no one ever being refused shelter or aid of a kindly heart and cheery disposition, in her home you were always made welcome. She was of a strong and hearty constitution a stranger to sickness or medicine, but since the loss of her husband, on November 26, 1899, to whom she was devotedly attached with the cares and responsibilities of life her system could not stand the strain and for the last eighteen months has been in poor health, although a disease of no great pain or suffering. She was patient and resigned and her desire at all times was to join him to whom she was joined on earth until nothing but death should part them. All that medical aid and loving hand and tender care for her was done and she passed away on Tuesday morning, at 4 o'clock after having been unconscious for several hours.
