Mrs. Velton (Mildred) Barr, a former Akron resident, died May 29 at Fresno, Calif., after an extended illness.

Mrs. Barr, the former Mildred Pike, was born at Akron on April 4, 1902, the daughter of Charles and Grace (Neal) Pike. She attended the Akron public schools and on October 2, 1922, she was united in marriage with Velton Barr at Elk Point, S.D. They. resided in Akron where Velton, served as chief of police for forty years before moving to Fresno, Calif. about nine years ago.

Survivors include the widower, a foster daughter, Mrs. Phyllis Hasenbank, of Minneapolis, Minn., a brother, Clifford Pike, and a sister, Mrs. Essie Beard, both of Fresno, and sisters Mrs. Hazel Raney, of Valley City, Calif. and Mrs. Annetta Thoning, of Nappa, Calif.

Funeral services were held at the Cloris Funeral Chapel, at Cloris, Calif., on May 31, and at the Schroeder Funeral Chapel in Akron last Saturday afternoon, June 2, with Rev. Robert Hamilton officiating. Mrs. Leslie Mitchell was vocalist and Mrs. Lucile Ross was pianist. Casket bearers were Ed Hartmann, R. D. Clark, Arthur Hasenbank, W. B. Neal, Ed Wilier and John Von Hagel. Interment was in Riverside Cemetery here.

Relatives from out of town who attended the funeral here were Mr. Clifford Pike, Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Hasenbank and daughters Debra and Chrisenda, Mr. and Mrs. Garvis Barr, Mr. and Mrs. DeCele Barr, Mr. Bruce Barr, Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Lundeen and sons, Kenneth and Lyle,, Mr. Vincent Squires, Miss Neva Neal, Mr. and Mrs. Beryl Neal and daughter, Barbara.

The Akron community joins in extending sympathy to the family of Mrs. Barr in their bereavement.
