Funeral services for Pvt. Donald Joseph Mace, 18, 1171 Perry St., Sioux City, formerly of Akron were at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Schroeder Funeral Home at Akron. Rev. James Sandvik officiated and burial was in the Riverside Cemetery at Akron under direction of the Schroeder Funeral Home. A military honor guard detachment from Ft. Leavenworth, Kan., conducted graveside services.

Pvt. Mace was born October 20, 1954, at Vermillion, S.D., the son of Ervin W. Mace and the late Mrs. Mace. He attended school at Akron during his freshman year in 1968 and 1969 and then a portion of his sophomore year In the fall of 1969.

He then attended school at Sioux City and joined the army last January. He took basic training at Fort Ord, Calif. Young Mace was killed Thursday, November 30, in a. one car accident near Junction City, Kan.

He was preceded in death by his mother about two and a half years ago.

Survivors are his father, Ervin W. Mace of Sioux City; three brothers, Gerald G., Alan W. and Edward L. Mace, all of Sioux City, and a sister, Mary Mace of Sioux City.
