Paul H. Papritz departed this life last Wednesday morning, January 27, 1971, at the Akron Hospital, following an illness of about three-weeks duration. He was 77 years of age.

Paul Herman Papritz was born in Galva, Iowa, January 8, 1894. When but four years of age, his family moved to this area and Mr. Papritz lived nearly all of his life in this vicinity. He became an adult member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Akron, in 1912 through Confirmation. On October 10, 1933, at a wedding in Le Mars, he married Miss Lena G. Willer. Until he retired in 1967 and moved to Akron, they lived on farms in Union County, South Dakota. Since about 1940, they lived on their farm just north of Pleasant Hill Church. While living there, they were members of Pleasant Hill EUB Church and were actively participating in its life and service in the community. In June, 1968, they became members of Immanuel Lutheran here in Akron, and he was a member in good standing as long as he lived. Mr. Papritz was a friendly and good neighbor in his community. He worked hard and felt he must keep busy, no matter how he felt health wise. He was willing to help wherever he was needed.

Among those who survive his departure are: his wife, Mrs. Lena Papritz; his daughter, Mrs. Mavis Hansen of Akron; his three grandchildren; his three sisters, Mrs. Anna Krmek of Los Angeles, California, Mrs. Katherine Wilier of Brunsville, Iowa, and Mrs. Clara Nelson of Hayden Lake, Idaho; his four brothers, Adolph of Chicago, Dick of Everett, Washington, John of Upton, Wyoming and Frank of Williamsburg, Iowa; many other relatives and friends.

The funeral service in his memory was held in Immanuel Lutheran Church, last Friday afternoon, with Pastor David J. Roy, officiating. Carol Harris, accompanied by Mrs. Henning Shoulberg, organist, sang, "The Old Rugged Cross" and "Abide With Me." Dallas Wilken, Verdell Swanson, Eldon Huff, Robert Abraham, Alvern Buum and David Swanson were active casket bearers, while Leonard Swanson, Roy Abraham, Chris Wilken, Herbert Swanson, Cy Ball and George Wilken were Honorary bearers. Interment was in Riverside Cemetery.
