Mrs. John (Martha) Klaschen, 86, Pierson, died Sunday (December 1, 1985) at the Colonial Manor Nursing Home in Kingsley.

Services were held at 10 A.M. Wednesday at the First Lutheran Church in Kingsley. The Rev. Walter Resner officiated. Burial was in the Remsen City Cemetery under the direction of the Moeller Funeral Home in Remsen.

Mrs. Klaschen, the forner Martha Diercksen, was born January 9, 1899, in Plymouth County. She married John Klaschen December 12, 1919 in Remsen. The couple lived in the Remsen area before moving to South Dakota where they farmed for several years. They moved to Kingsley in 1965 and to Pierson in 1981. Mr. Klaschen died May 3, 1982.

Survivors include three sons, Walter of Marcus; Donald of Pierson and Keith of Quimby; a brother, John Diercksen of Le Mars; four sisters, Mrs. Lillian Nelson, Cherokee, Mrs. Minnie Miller and Mrs. Marie Klingbeil, both of Remsen, and Mrs. Ena Sampson of Akron; 14 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. – family news clipping
