Mrs. Gerd H. Johnson, age 77, died Friday, January 30, at the Akron Hospital after a long illness.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, February 3, at 1:30 p.m. at the Akron Trinity Lutheran Church with Rev. Harris Hostager officiating. Music "Round Me Falls the Night" and "My Hope is Built", were sung by Mrs. Norman Nielsen and Mrs. Darwyn Klemme, accompanied by Mrs. Glen Gabel, organist. Burial was in the Riverside cemetery under the direction of the Schroeder Funeral Home.

Casket bearers were Roy Nielsen, Arval Jurgerisen, R. G. Witt, Elmer, Anderson,Lesley Anderson and Fay Smith.

Mrs. Johnson, the former Elsie Popken, was born April 4, 1892, at Jever, Germany. She came to the United States at the age of 20. She was married to Gerd H. Johnson on January 7,1914, in Preston township in Plymouth County.

Survivors are her husband; a son, Walter of Akron; a daughter, Mrs. Vance Erickson of Sloan; a brother, Fred Popken of Akron; four sisters, Mrs. Marie Vanderham and Mrs. Herbert Buehre of Akron, Anna Popken and Mrs. Alfred Molzen of Le Mars and two grandchildren.
