JOHNSON, EBRECHT, SIMEON, ANDERSON, CROISANT, HELD

Harm Johnson, 84, owner and operator of the Smith park summer resort on Lake Madison, died Friday night. He formerly resided at Remsen, where he farmed and was in business for 40 years.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Hollenedeck funeral home, Madison, South Dakota. Burial will be in a Remsen cemetery.

Mr. Johnson was born in 1877 in Ureka, Illinois. He was a resident of Wentworth the last 24 years.

Survivors include the widow, Lily; one son, Frank, Wentworth; three daughters, Mrs. Ray Simeon of Sioux City, Mrs. Katherine Anderson of Sparks, Nevada, and Mrs. Ernest Croisant of Madison; three brothers, Enock and Jurgin both of Remsen and George of Salem, Oregon; a sister, Mrs. Anna Held of Gardenia, California, 21 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren. – Le Mars Globe Post, Jan. 8, 1962, page 13.

Note: Harm’s first wife was August C.A. (Piepgrass) Harms who is also buried in the Remsen cemetery. She died in 1908. The two little children, Henry and Katie were being raised by the grandparents, John and Anna Johnson in the 1910 U.S. Census.
Harm was remarried to Lillie Ebrecht in 1912 and had at least 3 more children: Otto, Frank and Anna. They were living in Remsen at least until the 1930 Census. They moved later on to South Dakota.
