John Wiederich, an aged inmate of the state hospital at Cherokee, who formerly farmed northeast of Remsen, passed away at the Cherokee institution last Sunday at noon, at the age of 85 years. The body was brought to Remsen for burial, the funeral being held Tuesday afternoon. Surviving are three daughters: Mrs. R.M. Day and Mrs. Wm. Loeck, of Sioux Falls, S.D., and Mrs. Henry Mahler of California. – Le Mars Semi-Weekly Sentinel, May 9, 1922, page 2.
