Elizabeth Yanney was born in Hamilton County, Ohio, September 25, 1836, and died at Richland Tuesday morning Jan. 28, at eight o'clock at the age of 82 years, 4 months and 3 days. The cause of her death was from complication of diseases but she had been a great sufferer from asthma for eighteen years. She was united in marriage with John Strong at her home in Ohio in the fall of 1885 [1854]. There they resided a few years and then moved to New Castle, Indiana about the year 1861. They moved to Shellrock, Iowa in 1865 and in the year 1881 they moved to Akron, Iowa. There the husband died on June 24, 1888 and for the last 23 years Mrs. Strong has made her home with her daughter Mrs. Walter Bennett. She was the mother of nine children, seven of whom are living, Samuel Strong of Newport, WA., T.B. Strong of Oacoma, Mrs. Sarah Lyons of Killbourne, WI., Mrs. F.E. Russell and Mrs. A.H. Van Dusen of Los Angeles, CA., Clinton Strong of Akron, IA and Mrs. Walter Bennett of Richland. Besides these there remains a large number of grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Mrs. Strong was a faithful christian woman from her youth joining the U.B. Church at the age of fourteen years. After her removal to Akron, she affiliated with the M.E. church dying a member of that organization at Richland a highly esteemed member of the church and community.
Although 82 years of age and ailing for years she did her share for the soldiers and her country by knitting for the Red Cross. During her many years residence in Richland she made many friends there and in the surrounding community, all of whom join in extending sympathy to the
bereaved relatives. The funeral will be held this afternoon at one o'clock at the Bennett home in Richland by Rev. W.I. Beatty of Elk Pointe. Interment will made in the Akron Cemetery.
