Henry Hansen, 81, of Remsen, died Thursday, April 26, 1990 at Happy Siesta Nursing Home after a lengthy illness.
Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 28 at St. Paul Lutheran Church with Rev. Karl Rydholm of Marcus officiating. Burial was in the Remsen City Cemetery under direction of the Fisch Funeral Home.
Mr. Hansen was born April 19, 1909 at rural Remsen to August and Emma (Grage) Hansen. He was raised and educated in the Remsen area.
He assisted his parents in the operation of their farm until entering the Army during World War II. He was stationed in California during the War.
His marriage to Emma Louise Letsche took place Jan. 4, 1943 at Camp Hahn, Calif. After his discharge from the Army the couple returned to the Remsen area where they farmed until retiring and moving into Remsen in January of 1974. He entered Happy Siesta Nursing Home in February of 1985.
He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church of Remsen and American Legion Post 220 of Remsen. In his earlier years he was a member of his father’s polka band which played at various functions in the area for over 20 years.
Surviving are a son, Gary of Dallas, Tex.; a daughter, Nancy Bentson of Dallas, Tex., two grandchildren; and a sister, Mrs. Kenneth (Anna) Sitzmann of Sioux City.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Emma, on April 15, 1980, and two brothers, Emory and Roy.
Casketbearers were Donald Kunkel, Ronald NIehus, Paul Schorg, and Martin, Thomas and Vernon Letsche. – Remsen Bell-Enterprise, May 3, 1990.

Note: Henry is buried in the Remsen City Cemetery.
