Mrs. Johanna Stehr, mother of Mrs. Carl Dose, died at the Dose home in Remsen at 5 a.m. Tuesday, May 12, of infirmities of old age. Decedent was born near Luetgenburg, in Holstein, Germany, on the 8th of day of September 1825. Her maiden name was Johanna Kahl. She became the wife of Friederick Stehr when about twenty-one year old. About twenty-five years ago Stehr came to this country and settled at Reinbeck. – Le Mars Semi-Weekly Sentinel, May 19, 1908, page 2.

Note: Johanna is buried in the Remsen Community Cemetery.
