Died…Paulsen – At her home in Meadow township, Tuesday night, August 3, of inflammation of the bowels, Maria, wife of John N. Paulsen.
The deceased was 31 years old. She was a kind wife and mother of three children. The funeral took place Saturday. J.P. Kieffer officiating in the absence of the minister. – Le Mars Semi-Weekly Sentinel, Thursday, August 10, 1893, page 4.

Note: Maria was born in 1861 per her gravestone in the Remsen City Cemetery.
