MRS. ELIZABETH MOSER, REMSEN, DIES. Aged Fredonia Township Woman Passes Away After Brief Sickness. Remsen Bell-Enterprise:
Another one of the aged residents of this community passed away to her heavenly reward and the community lost an excellent woman of noble character in the death of Mrs. Elizabeth Moser, who passed away at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Andrew Juhl, residing five miles northwest of town, in Fredonia township. Mrs. Moser died Monday evening, May 6, at 5 o’clock, following a very brief sickness. She was 76 years old, and is survived by nine children. The funeral was held this afternoon, services being held at the Juhl home at 1:30 o’clock and later in St. Paul’s Evangelical church. The services were conducted by the Rev. Hy Reifschneider.
Her death was caused from a paralytic stroke which she suffered but four days previous.
Mrs. Elizabeth Moser was born on February 26, 1853, in the city of Bern, Switzerland, and came to the United States with her parents at the age of but four years. The family settled on a farm in Elgin, Iowa, and here she lived under her parental roof until she attained young womanhood. In 1872 she was united in marriage to Fred Moser, who was also making his home in that vicinity, and after continuing to farm there for a number of years the couple came to Plymouth county. Both were diligent and painstaking in their farm and household work, and after struggling on the farm, which was in Fredonia township, for many year they finally reaped their reward in being able to pay for the farm and call it their own. Mr. Moser passed away many years ago, and the widow continued to reside on the farm for a few more years, retiring ten years ago and moved to Remsen, where she purchased a comfortable home.
The deceased was the mother of 10 children, nine of whom survive. – Le Mars Globe-Post, May 13, 1929
